Cox Demands Schumer, Gillibrand Listen to Taxpayers Not Left Wing NEW YORK – December 10, 2009 - Senator Reid’s Statements Comparing Health Care Debate to Ending Slavery

Today, New York State Republican Chairman Ed Cox called upon Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to divorce themselves from the left wing of their Party and stand up for New York’s taxpayers. “Senators Schumer and Gillibrand stand idly by while New York’s taxpayers are clearly in the crosshairs of Congress as they look to fund their massive healthcare overhaul.

The Senate plan will impose a government-run health care experiment on Americans that will increase premiums, impose billions of dollars in new taxes on business and the middle class, and cut $500 billion from Medicare.

New Yorkers already are subject to the most expensive, over-regulated health-insurance market in the country. Both of the Democrats’ so-called health reform proposals would make the rest of the country operate much like our state’s dysfunctional healthcare market as a way of ultimately forcing the need for an eventual public option. As usual, our taxpayers would then foot an even larger share of the trillion-dollar price tag. (more …)
